How I’m Layering Clothes for Fall

Fall is probably my favorite season to shop and dress for. I love the cozy pieces, the colors, really everything about it and it’s mostly because I love to layer! I think layering is the cutest way to really take your Fall outfits up a notch. A few weeks ago I got a DM from one of you who noticed I always love a good layer (lace cami under a cardigan etc.) and asking if I would do a post all about the best pieces to layer under things in Fall and Winter. I thought it was a genius idea and here we are!

I’m a big believer that if you have the right staples/key pieces in your closet you actually end up getting more wear out of the rest of your closet, because you can style them a bunch of different ways! For example if you have a flannel, you can wear it by itself, with a tank or dress under it, open (I did this a lot when I was pregnant) or under something like a sweater! Layering basics allow you to really get creative with your closet! So, I’ve rounded up an ultimate but condensed list of must-haves basics that have already been on major repeat this season.

I’ve also been thinking about doing a Fall capsule wardrobe. I did a Summer one (here if you missed it) and you guys loved it so much that I’ve been wanting to do one of Fall. Comment below and let me know if you’d like see a post about that or even me just sharing more ways I style all of these layering basics.

Flannels.

Flannels are perfect for fall and for layering! You can style them so many ways, buttoned up, unbuttoned with a tee/bodysuit under, or tied up! One of my favorite things about a good plaid button up is that you can wear it as the bottom or top layer, making it extra versatile.
